Until the recent restoration project, no substantial programme of repair has been carried out on this historic London landmark since it first opened its doors in 1904. The London Coliseum, which is London's largest theatre, is cited as being architect Frank Matcham's crowning achievement. In its 100 year history it has played host to many forms of entertainment, including horse races, musicals, variety, cinema and, since 1968, opera.

The New London Theatre is a theatre located on the corners of Drury Lane and Parker Street in the Covent Garden area of London.
Designed by Paul Tvrtkovic, it officially opened on January 2, 1973 with a production of The Unknown Soldier and His Wife starring Peter Ustinov. Between 1981 and 2002 it was home to the musical Cats, during which time it became the longest running musical in West End history.

At its grand opening in April 1928, the Piccadilly Theatre was one of the largest theatres to be built in London, as its souvenir brochure claimed, 'If all the bricks used in the building were laid in a straight line, they would stretch from London to Paris'. The opening production starred one of the most acclaimed actresses of the period, Miss Evelyn Laye.

Take an area famous for 'The Emporium', a large draper's store patronised by royalty and turn it into an area famous for a theatre, such were the beginnings of the Prince Edward Theatre. Named after the then Prince of Wales, it opened on 3 April 1930 with Rio Rita, a romantic musical comedy set in Mexico starring Edith Day and Geoffrey Gwyther.

There has been a theatre on this site since 1832, originally known as Moy’s Music Hall, well before the coming of the railways. This was then renamed in 1863 and became The Royal Standard Music Hall. In 1886, when Victoria Street and Victoria Station were built, the theatre was demolished and the rebuilt Royal Standard Music Hall became "the most comfortable Hall of entertainment in London... no expense has been spared."
